The Winter of My Total Discontent
I am sure that many others, in fact millions of others, feel the same way that I have about the Never Ending Winter of 2013-14. If we didn't have snow, we had ice, or subzero temps. Who ever heard of the Polar Vortex, not me! But I am sure familiar with that bad boy now! First we had El Nino, then La Nina. Those little boys and girls were bad enough. Their Big Brother Polar Vortex, on the other hand, geez. That 'Weather Family' is the scourge of the Neighborhood.
I think everybody ate a lot of Soup, baked a lot of Bread and sweets, and Napped, through the whole stinkin mess. I can only speak for myself, but that is how I spent this Eternal Winter.
Now, it appears that Spring has sprung. Things are turning green, its raining daily, and I even saw the Sun a time or two. Most allergy sufferers are now sneezing their way around town, so it must be true.
I have dreamed of this moment for so long, the flowers, the budding trees, the gentle spring breeze. The scent of the Lilac Bushes in Bloom, wafting through my open bedroom window.....HHHHHaaatthhCHUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On we prod into Summer, which I am afraid may hit us two days after the start of Spring. It has happened before. Now you probably think that I am a pessimist, nope. I am not. I am a realist. A learned behavior after having experienced life on this big Blue Ball for over Seventy Years. I am now a sage, a crone, a crochety old Lady. Yes, I admit that much, but Never a pessimist. I see the glass half full, then later empty.
Of course that optimism may be tied to what is in the glass, for a lot of people, certainly Not me. She says, with a look of Total sincerity. Thats them other old broads.
I would like to be able to say that I got in a lot of writing this winter, since I was confined, here at the 'We can't go out cause the Weather is Bad' Old Folks Home. But alas, I must admit I spent the whole winter sleeping like a dormant plant.
It is now officially Spring, time to shake off the cobwebs, and fuzzy sweet treat induced thinking and restart my Blogs. An exciting concept, only if you haven't read the past BlogPosts. I hereby announce that I am turning that around, and around, and around...woops, Got dizzy...
By the way I also have a cooking Blog, whose garden needs to be fertilized, I will be making regular posts on that too. Maybe if I say it outloud I will follow through. Says the Queen of Procrastination. I seriously am turning over a new writing leaf, just slightly afraid of what might be under it.....to be continued.
